Congratulations to our Land Art for Oxenhope winners

Our judges loved lots of the entries for this competition supported by Oxenhope Parish Council and found it very hard to choose between the top three therefore they took aspects from each of the works of Sophie Upfield, Christina Cox and  Amber Eastwood.

We took the concept of the colourful crowds cheering participants as they wind up the hill from the village from Christina Cox. From Amber we took her image of the Flying Scotsman locamotive which recently visited the village via the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. From Sophie Upfield we took her mill design and the image of the cyclist which we put onto Christina's winding road.  To this we added some images of participants in the annual Oxenhope Straw race who also climb this same winding hill to the adulation of the crowds lining the roadside.

The artwork was picked up by the TV cameras in the helicopter and beamed all over the world. Though it drew some questions from the commentators this is what art is all about, dividing opinion and getting people talking.  Thanks to Mrs Joyce Denby who has also been very supportive and kindly allowed us to use her field which lies just off the Tour de Yorkshire stage 3 route between Oxenhope and Leeming.

Congratulations to all our winners and we hope that you are proud that things you have designed have been seen by millions around the world!

Hot off the press - Our latest Land Artwork

Fox Valley, Stocksbridge, Sheffield

On Friday 10th March we created our latest land artwork for the fantastic team at Fox Valley shopping destination near Sheffield. This will be the finish for the 3rd stage of the Tour de Yorkshire and yesterday we installed an artwork that will leave the riders in no doubt that they have found the correct destination.

This is a shot of the work taken from the office of the boss, Mark Dransfield.  The steepness of the slope made this instalation a real challenge but we got there in the end and everyone was delighted with the result. So why not go have a look and whilst you are there spend some time in the smartest retail park we've ever been to.
